Beaphar Anti-Tracheal Mite to combat tracheal and air sac mites in Canaries, Gouldian Finches, but has also been found in other Finches, Japanese Gulls, Goldfinches, Zebra Finches, Parrotlets and Budgerigars.
The product is also effective against scabies in Parakeets (scaly face).
It can also be used against calcareous feet in ornamental birds.
The mites cause inflammation by hooking into mucous membranes and sucking blood from the host. Symptoms in the bird are: loss of condition, sitting hunched over, loss of voice (canaries), respiratory disorders, swallowing movements and attempts to work something up from the trachea, whereby the head is moved as if the bird wants to throw something away. In the case of severe infections, the bird can even die.
Birds can be carriers of mites for a long time without being ill. The disease can flare up due to changes in external conditions and stress. Infection of other birds occurs when mites are transferred directly to other birds, via drinking water or feeding by the parents. The incubation period is long, from weeks to even months.
Anti-Trachea Mite is a spot-on product that is absorbed through the skin into the blood and thus kills all mites present in the body.
The liquid is in a handy 10 ml dropper bottle.
