Drontal Dog is a very effective and safe product for the treatment of roundworms, tapeworms and hookworms in dogs. This worming agent kills the present worms after a single administration.
Drontal Dog tablets can be given directly or with some food. The dosage of Drontal Dog depends on the body weight of your dog. As the weight can vary greatly, we offer both the Drontal Dog and the Drontal Large Dog. For puppies we have a liquid variant called Drontal Pup.
Drontal Dog: 1 tablet per 10 5 kg of body weight.
Drontal Large Dog: 1 tablet per 35 kg of body weight.
Drontal Pup: 1 ml per kg of body weight.
Drontal Dog is a so called broad-spectrum deworming agent, meaning that it will work against almost all worminfections in your dog. With a single administration this medicine combats roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and several kinds of tapeworms. The active substances of Drontal Dog are pyrantel embonate, praziquantel and febantel. The tablets are well accepted because of the tasty beef flavor. Drontal Large Dog tablets now have the shape of a small bone.
Drontal Dog will NOT protect your dog against heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis), an infection that is transferred by stinging mosquito's. So when you travel with your dog in heartwom areas, such as Southern- and Eastern Europe, check if prevention of heartworm disease is indicated and choose the right medication.
Worming is of great importance: to keep your dog, yourself and your family, healthy, it is important to deworm your dogs regularly. Worms can make your dog and especially your puppy seriously ill, you don't want this to happen. Depending on the kind of worm, worms make a tour through the animals body and can damage organs such as the lungs, liver and intestines, possibly leading to obstruction, diarrhea or vomiting. Worms also have an adverse effect of the animals resistance, will cause inflammation and lower the effect of a vaccination. Of course you want to protect your dog against all kind of parasitic infections, but keeping your animals free of worms is also better for the health of all the other members of the household.
It is wise to deworm all adult dogs up to 4 times a year or sometimes even more depending on the risk of infection.
